I certainly cannot say I know the answer, but this explanation definitely matches myself, as compared to my brother and husband who all graduates with the same degree and went into the same field (Computer Science). Women are far more driven to get higher GPAs and snag the degrees, and while men are just as smart they just are not as motivated by a 4.0 or A+ as women are, in general.

This article is also interesting, and in my situation quite true: http://www.prb.org/Articles/2007/CrossoverinFemaleMaleCollegeEnrollmentRates.aspx. Women are no longer going to college to get an MRS degree. Chances are we WILL need to be able to support ourselves, and why shouldn't we be completely capable of being the breadwinner. These days your husband is just as likely to get injured or lose his job and you can't live on love :)

Wow, this is a BIG topic. The advice I've given to most of the people I know in your situation is that if you are REALLY struggling to know where to go and what to major in, check out a local community college first. Why spend tens of thousands of dollars hemming and hawing about what you really want to do when you can get the same classes and credit hours under your belt for a FRACTION of the cost.

I changed my major 4 times in 3 years, no kidding, and thankfully did all of it at a local community college so I didn't end up majorly in debt before I even chose a career path. I started out as an accountant, changed to business, then elementary education, then computer programming, and ended up as a technical evangelist for Microsoft which was as far from my original plans as you could get. I am extremely happy, and while I thought I had it all planned out at 17, it changed every year, and that is OK. Your plan should be flexible, and evolve to fit your situation as your situation changes because next year, or next week, you may find something you are passionate about in another state, in another field, any number of variables that can change.

Don't panic, you have plenty of time. Mistakes are things you learn from, and we all make them. Taking your time is not a mistake. Hope this helped...

Angela Dugan on "scholarships"

Scholarships exist for MANY things. I received a $500 scholarship back in 1995 from an insurance company for my good grades. In 1995 that was a lot of money :) Scholarships exist for athletics, academic excellence, hobbies (running, golf, musical talents, etc.), sometimes even for your heritage. For instance, I am Polish and several scholarships were made available through the Polish National Alliance in Chicago.

You just have to do a little research and potentially fill out a LOT of applications. Just be careful and don't fall for internet sites that charge you, that information is freely available. Check with your school's financial aid office for a list, and check with local associations you belong to and see if they know of any available funding.

Im not a senior yet, but I know it's crazy to try and figure out what collage you want to go to. Am I right? I've thought about collage a few times. I once thought about going to Harverd and Yale, but i then something changed. It's tough to find a good job without a good education. I know that because my mom didn't go to collage. Do you have your whole life planned out? Do your parents have your whole life planned for you?

An intended career is more than earning money; it's also a way to achieve personal satisfaction and happiness. Unfortunately, too many Americans don't enjoy the work they do, which is sad considering how
much of our lives is spent working.Your selection of a career must reflect what you consider to be important and worth doing.
As a start, think about things you have done in the past that you cherished and enjoyed. Then think about what you'd like to do in the future and what activities would be important to you.
Make a list and join in here with some of your thoughts.
After some commentary, I'll be back to talk about some qualities that are significant in people's jobs. Cheers!
